We are so thankful for a church that cares and gives so generously to families needing assistance in our local communities.
Kilo of Kindness this Easter has been a great success on the back of an overwhelmingly generous response to our Stuff the Bus Christmas appeal.
It’s amazing that the final tally reached this weekend was 26,730 items received, which equated to over 13,080 kilos of kindness. This exceeded our goal of 25,000 items and was a 23% increase from what was received last year.
Kilo of Kindness is a key project we undertake at Easter to collect non-perishable food and hygiene items to assist families in need. This year we needed an extra boost as we are also assisting newly arrived asylum seekers through Settlement Services International with food packages.
Our Emergency Relief food banks across Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne assist an average of over 100 families every week who are struggling to put food on their tables.
In Sydney we also assist Settlement Services International with food packages for the 80-100 new asylum seekers that are processed through their organisation each week.
The needs in our communities are huge and we are grateful for each person who was able to donate basic food and hygiene items to this cause.
Your kilo of kindness makes a big difference.
