I cannot tell you how deeply I feel about the fact we are living in REVIVAL, but we are somewhat familiar and blinded to the fact we actually are...
It was quoted at The Billy Graham Crusade (Melbourne) in 1958:
‘A spiritual awakening now could change the course of this nation’s destiny — and make a profound impact upon the entire world as well. Only rarely, perhaps once in a generation, do the Churches, religious and civic organizations join hands in a united endeavour to make a lasting impact for good — and for God — upon the life of a great city. Such an opportunity may not come our way again.’
Yet at Hillsong Conference annually; 20+ denominations, 1000+ churches and tens of thousands of people gather together annually in a ‘...united endeavour to make a lasting impact for good – and for God...’
Jonathan Edwards a key part of the great awakening said:
“In 1734 Edwards preached a powerful series of sermons on 'Justification by faith alone'. Suddenly the Spirit of God began to work in power amongst them. It surprised even those who had prayed for it. Edwards described what happened, 'It was in the latter part of December that the Spirit of God began extraordinarily and wonderfully to work amongst us. Very suddenly, one after another, five or six persons were to all appearances savingly converted” (Colin Whittaker. Great Revivals. Marshall Pickering. 1984. P.25-26).
Jonathan Edwards saw only five or so people being saved as REVIVAL - Yet we see more than this on a weekly basis!
Maybe we need to open our eyes to what we are living in – maybe we aren’t really far from what Smith Wigglesworth prophesied about in Australia at the beginning of the 20th century:
“Australia you have been chosen by God for a great move of the Holy Spirit. This move of God will be the greatest move of God ever known in mankind’s history and will start towards the end of the 20th century and move into the 21st century. This move of God will start a great revival in Australia, and spread throughout the whole world...”
I’m praying and believing that buses full of people on their way around town, find themselves stopping and walking into church for no other reason than God’s spirit drawing them home...
That schools and rural towns will be saved in one day...
That no barrier will stop what God is doing and is about to do...
THIS IS REVIVAL!
