It's 9:48am

Hillsong Collected

It's 9:48am on a Wednesday morning and I'm having a bit of a moment...

A mountain of laundry...
Scrap that... Multiple mountains of laundry...
A broken dishwasher...
A bright shining sun...
And... a comfy couch.

All of which are at fierce competition with one another. Truth be told, the comfy couch is winning.

For a split second, I try to justify the mountain of laundry as being a fun obstacle for my 7.5mth old baby who has recently discovered her ability to climb... and therefore I toy with the idea of avoiding it yet again... for the sake of Willow of course ;) But the sheer fact that our worn clothes piled on top of one another has formed a 'climb-able' mountain and admittedly, is high enough to be classed as dangerous, has me slightly shamed. Ok, I MUST conquer the mountain. But maybe, just maybe the dishes can wait until Pete comes home and can fix the dishwasher??

I know, how about I just avoid it ALL and take advantage of this perfectly made day... Blue sky, sunshine and warmth... Ahhh yes.

Then I am reminded that all of this will just be waiting for me when I get home.
I try to remind myself of the instant gratification I will feel once it is done...
All I have to do is sort the washing, get through it load by load, fold and put away... Wash, dry and put away the dishes…while I am at it I need to clean the floors and surfaces... take out the garbage and make the beds... And...
Hmm... All of a sudden I find myself staring at the comfy couch again.
And then comes the epiphany...

"JUST GET ON WITH IT" ...that still, small voice within me can be quite loud and abrupt sometimes.

It is now 10:41am...

In our humanity we tend to make that which is so simple, extremely complicated. We waste time contemplating, thinking upon, considering every reasonable excuse and are tempted to settle for whatever is the easier option.

When all we really need to do is just get on with what God has purposed for us to do today. For me, today, that is to create 'home' in my house. Wonder what it is for you? :)

Ok, so first a ‘shout out’ to the inspiration for this blog, "Pops" a.k.a. Brian Houston, who preached a message on RISK about 450 years ago when I first came to church

Hillsong Collected

Whilst lying in bed this cold winters morning with my iPad bible (gotta love the 21st century) open to Matthew 5 in The Message, I'm yet again stirred and reminded of how blessed I really am.
