Being A Mum

Hillsong Collected

Being a Mum is the best thing in the world. Over the years I have wished it came with a detailed handbook regarding the many and varied situations I have faced with my gorgeous kids. Even so, I have found that as I have leaned into Jesus, strived to become more like Him (even though I am a long way off), He has become my wisdom & voice of timely advice as I have sought to point my own kids in His direction.

One of my greatest joys is watching Harmony and Eli flourish in their simple, yet often profound relationship with Jesus and His Church. I love it how much they love Jesus and His Church! They seem to really 'get it'... Life in its true fulfillment is about God & people!

As a Mum to other Mum's one of my greatest pieces of advice would be...

Don't allow anything else to compete with your commitment to Jesus and His Church. We live in a world that is trying to compete for your time and affections. Let's be a generation of families who position ourselves and our children to experience the very best in God. Position our children to fulfill God's perfect plan and purpose for their lives. Let's set our kids up to WIN!

Something that also seems to be working for Joel and I is to make life fun and adventurous as we take the kids on the journey. For me this means making a decision, even when I'm tired, to make life memorable along the way.

And of course... As a Mum, lavish your children with LOVE. The deep kind of love it talks about in 1 Peter 1:22 (NLT) "... So see to it that you really do love each other intensely with all your hearts." Loving Harmony and Eli is one of my greatest privileges and looks like both telling them and showing them.

One of the little things I've made a habit of doing so our kids are constantly assured of our love, is to take their faces within my hands, look deeply into their eyes and tell them affectionately, 'I will ALWAYS love you.' I want Harmony and Eli to know that I will love them consistently no matter what life may bring. Regardless of what life may throw at them, they can and will always find 'HOME' and acceptance in me.

If you're a Mum... From our family to YOU... Happy mothers day for this Sunday... And if nobody else happens to tell you... Thanks for all you do as a Mum. You're amazing! Thanks for being YOU!

Love,

Your Local Church Needs You

I am a local Church girl... And I am a firm believer that God’s local Church – in all of Her glorious diversity - is His genius idea and His marvellous plan of reaching all humanity with the good news of Jesus.
